Such false denotations you have

The denotation of a pulse is a beating heart

This means the organism functions

Connotatively life equates a beating heart

The reverse is not always true

Life and being alive are not equal

They are not interchangeable

My pulse endlessly beats out its bassline

But my life seems to end and begin with violent and sudden sensations

Living and being alive

Verbs and nouns

I have a pulse

My heart beats

I am alive

But I don’t think I’ve been living for quite some time
